Announcing Lucenia v0.3.0: Streamlining Development, Enhancing Performance, and Supporting Seamless Migrations

We’re thrilled to roll out Lucenia v0.3.0, packed with key updates to enhance the user experience, simplify workflows, and improve performance. Let’s take a closer look at the new features.

1. Developer Licenses

Lucenia now offers Developer Licenses to make developing and testing custom plugins easier. Developers can now build, test, and iterate locally on Lucenia plugins without the hassle of deployment barriers. Whether you’re working on data ingestion processors or custom search solutions, our Developer Licenses empower you to bring your ideas to life quickly. Sign up today to unlock the full potential of local development.

2. Seamless Migrations from OpenSearch

Transitioning to Lucenia has never been easier. With the v0.3.0 release, users can seamlessly migrate from any version of OpenSearch with just a few clicks. This makes it simpler for teams to move away from AWS vendor lock-in and adopt Lucenia for more flexibility, whether on-premise or with cloud hosting providers of their choice. Our goal is to streamline the migration process and remove the barriers to adopting a more customizable, open-source solution.

3. Multi-Cloud Repository Installed by Default

Lucenia now ships with multi-cloud repository support out of the box, enabling seamless backup, snapshot, and restore functionality for your indexes. No more dealing with the complexities of manually installing repository-specific plugins. Whether you’re using AWS, Azure, or another cloud provider, Lucenia’s multi-cloud repository system ensures smooth, frictionless integration.

4. Ingest & Search Pipeline Processor Simplicity & Performance Improvements

The search and ingest processors are now unified under a shared framework, simplifying the process of building transformations for both stages. This makes it quicker and more intuitive to implement data pipelines and search time transformations. In addition to the improved developer experience, performance has been boosted by 5-10% in certain use cases, leading to faster response times and a more efficient processing pipeline.

5. Spatial Reprojection Processor

With Lucenia’s new Spatial Reprojection capabilities, users can now seamlessly transform spatial data across any coordinate reference system (CRS) at every stage of their workflow—ingest, query, and response. At ingest time, the reprojection ingest processor ensures data is accurately indexed in the desired CRS, supporting the full EPSG Database and custom Proj Strings for ultimate flexibility. At query time, the search request processor dynamically reprojects query geometries, enabling searches in any CRS, such as querying UTM (local coordinate system) indexed data with WGS84 input. Finally, the reprojection search response processor transforms query results into a display-friendly CRS, perfect for map views or visualization in tools like GIS platforms. Whether aligning datasets globally or customizing projections for regional precision, Lucenia empowers users with unmatched control over spatial data transformations.

We’re incredibly excited about what Lucenia v0.3.0 has to offer and how it will help our users build better, faster, and more flexible search and ingest pipelines.

Check out the new features today, and let us know how Lucenia is helping you streamline your workflows!

Stay tuned for more updates and improvements in the upcoming releases.
